AI take-off and BOQ from your drawings
Upload a drawing package and Quantora counts every item, measures every run and writes the bill of quantities — with a marked-up drawing that shows exactly what was counted and where.
A manual take-off of a floor plan takes an estimator hours: counting symbols sheet by sheet, scaling cable and duct runs, and then working out the items the drawing never shows. Quantora does that first pass in minutes, for every discipline in one place, and keeps the working visible so you can check it.
What it measures
How it works
- Upload the drawings. PDF, DWG, DXF or a scanned sheet. Add the specification if you have it; sizes and heights written there are read too.
- Choose the systems. Pick the disciplines to measure. The drawing is checked first: scale, legend, title block and sheet type, so the legend and schedules are never counted as items.
- Quantora measures. Every symbol is counted, every run is measured along its route, and the items the drawing implies but does not show (cable, accessories, terminations) are worked out with the basis written next to them.
- Check and export. The marked-up drawing shows every counted item boxed and numbered. Fix anything in the BOQ, then export it to Excel or PDF, or price it.
What you get back
- A take-off BOQ with item, description, unit, quantity and location, grouped by system and floor
- The marked-up drawing, every counted item boxed and numbered against its BOQ line
- The basis of every derived quantity, e.g. cable length from route length plus drops and spare
- A compliance check against the codes of the country and city the project is in
- Excel and PDF export, and an optional priced BOQ with the supplier source shown for each rate
Example lines from a take-off
| Item | Description | Unit | Qty | Basis |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| HVAC | Supply air duct, galvanised steel, 450x250 mm | m | 38 | Measured along the drawn route |
| HVAC | Square ceiling diffuser 600x600, neck 225x225, with plenum box | nr | 24 | Counted on plan |
| CCTV | IP dome camera 4MP, 2.8–12 mm varifocal, IP66 | nr | 18 | Counted on plan |
| CCTV | Cat 6A U/FTP cable | m | 1,140 | Route to rack + 3 m drop + 10% spare per camera |
| Civil | Gypsum board partition, 100 mm, to soffit | m² | 212 | Length × height, openings deducted |

Why the result can be trusted
An AI take-off is only useful if you can check it quickly. Every line in Quantora carries its source: the sheet it came from, the symbol or run that was measured, and the rule used for anything derived. Items the drawing does not show clearly are flagged for review instead of guessed silently, and the numbered markup lets you compare the BOQ with the drawing in seconds.
Questions estimators ask
What is AI take-off?
AI take-off is quantity take-off done by software that reads the drawing: it finds and counts symbols, measures runs and areas, and builds the bill of quantities, instead of an estimator counting and scaling by hand.
Which drawing formats can I upload?
PDF, DWG, DXF and image files such as scanned sheets. Vector PDFs and CAD files give the most accurate lengths.
Does it work when the drawing has no sizes written on it?
Yes. Sizes can be taken from the specification you upload, or typed in once, and the BOQ shows where each size came from.
Can I edit the BOQ?
Yes. Every line can be changed before export, and the marked-up drawing stays linked to the lines.
Do I need drawings to get a BOQ?
No. Without drawings, Quantora can design the systems from a project description and produce a designed BOQ instead.
Try it on your own drawings
Upload a drawing and get the take-off, the BOQ and the marked-up drawing back in minutes. Every line shows where it came from, so you can check it before it goes into your tender.
