Civil drawing take-off and BOQ

Upload the architectural or civil plans and Quantora measures walls, floors, finishes and openings room by room, to the method of measurement used in your project's country.

Civil and architectural quantities are areas and lengths: wall area net of openings, floor area by finish, skirting length around each room, ceiling area by type. Measured by hand from a large plan they take days. Quantora reads the rooms and walls from the drawing and measures them in minutes, following the measurement rules of the project's country.

What it measures

Walls and partitionsBlockwork and partition area by type and thickness, openings deducted, heights from the section or specification.
Floors and skirtingFloor finish area by room and type, skirting length around each room less door openings.
Ceilings and wall finishesCeiling area by type, plaster and paint, tiling and cladding areas.
Doors and windowsDoors and windows counted by type and size from the plan and schedules.

How it works

  1. Upload the drawings. PDF, DWG, DXF or a scanned sheet. Add the specification if you have it; sizes and heights written there are read too.
  2. Choose the systems. Pick the disciplines to measure. The drawing is checked first: scale, legend, title block and sheet type, so the legend and schedules are never counted as items.
  3. Quantora measures. Every symbol is counted, every run is measured along its route, and the items the drawing implies but does not show (cable, accessories, terminations) are worked out with the basis written next to them.
  4. Check and export. The marked-up drawing shows every counted item boxed and numbered. Fix anything in the BOQ, then export it to Excel or PDF, or price it.

Measured to your country's method

The method of measurement follows the project: POMI in the Gulf, NRM2 in the United Kingdom, IS 1200 in India, and the equivalent standard elsewhere. The deduction rules, units and descriptions in the BOQ follow that method, and the method used is stated on the BOQ.

Quantora's AI draftsman can also produce a partition layout drawing from the same plan, with each partition type, height and location tagged against its BOQ line.

Questions estimators ask

What is a civil take-off?

A civil or architectural take-off measures the quantities of building work from the drawings: areas of walls, floors and ceilings, lengths of skirting and edges, and counts of doors and windows.

Which method of measurement does it use?

The one for the project's country: POMI, NRM2, IS 1200 or the local equivalent, stated on the BOQ.

Are door and window openings deducted?

Yes, following the deduction rules of the method of measurement in use.

Where do wall heights come from?

From the drawing sections, the specification, or a height you enter once; the BOQ shows which one was used.
